Decisions, decisions, decisions... It's what our home buyers are doing every day as they pick their favorite neighborhood to live in. Denver doesn't make that decision any easier with it's many wonderful neighborhoods and development projects. And among the favorites is often the choice between a true downtown Denver location or the Central Platte Valley.
Downtown Denver includes exciting new projects such as SPIRE, ONE Lincoln, or the many lodo lofts (both old and new). Downtown Denver offers a higher density environment allowing for plentiful restaurants, shops, clubs and of course the many events within the arts and Theater district. And as far as growth goes... the downtown experience is being enriched with every expansion including the lively Larimer Street, the 14th Street initiative, and plans to improve the 16th street mall.
Then there is the Central Platte Valley where Riverfront Park and Commons Park emerged with ample green space paired with a beautiful master planned neighborhood. The Central Platte Valley also includes the Highlands area which has exploded with new restaurants and low rise loft projects. Our acronyms just keep growing as people laugh and share their delight with the new restaurants of LoHi (Lower Highlands).
And in between these two attractive neighborhoods is.. well... a lot of dirt.
But that is all changing and changing fast. The Denver Post announced this week that the Denver City Council voted to back up the Federal Loan for Union Station. The article talks a great deal about the plans for RTD and transportation.. which we absolutely love. The transportation is just the the foundation (and a very important one) for a whole new "borough" that the Developer(s) have named the "Union Station Neighborhood". Replacing all of that dirt will be transportation, shops, lofts, condos, hotel (rumored), restaurants, bars, and who knows what else. Imagine a growing and energetic new neighborhood bridging (literally) the downtown market and the Central Platte Valley Market. Can you tell we are excited?
So if you can't decide between a condo in Downtown Denver or in the Central Platte Valley perhaps the following statement will help...
Either one will be within a short walk or bike ride (leave the car at home) filled with the life and energy of a new Union Station Neighborhood. They are closer than people think and filling in those parcels of Denver will make this even more clear. Don't expect this to happen overnight but know that the City of Denver is taking action to make it happen sooner than you might expect.
