It’s Starting to Feel like Fall

If you went outside the other week and it felt a little chillier than normal, it’s because it was. Fall is slowly making it’s way to Denver with the weather becoming a bit cooler at night and in the early mornings, the aspens changing from their green to beautiful colors of yellow and orange and every coffee shop has started to advertise pumpkin everything. Let’s also not forget the Broncos are back on the television (thank goodness!) and it won’t be too long until we will be heading to Pepsi Center to watch the Nuggets and Avalanche. There is so much to do in Denver during the fall and we don’t want you to miss out on anything so we have compiled a list of events happening in Denver that we think are worth checking out.

Free Events to Hit Up

Oktoberfest – Sept. 25th-27th – Ballpark Neighborhood – This is a family friendly festival with food, drinks and activities for everyone. Celebrate the world-famous and time-honored tradition of German heritage with national touring groups, dancers, heritage booths and even an accordion concert.

Pumpkin Harvest Festival – Oct. 3rd-4th – Four Mile Historic Park – Another great festival to take the family to, this is the place to find the perfect pumpkin for Halloween, create your own scarecrow and listen and dance to old time music.

Festival of Scarecrows – Oct. 10th – Historic Olde Town Arvada – Get your best scarecrow costume out and head to this festival. Scarecrow contests, a pumpkin patch, kids costume parade and hay wagon rides are just some of the fun activities to do with the family.

Denver Zombie Crawl – Oct. 17th – Downtown Denver – This is the largest zombie crawl in the nation, something to be proud of right? In their 9th year, this is a crawl that you can go to dead or alive and see some amazing make-up and costumes along the way.

Events Outside of Denver

Mountain Harvest Festival, Paonia CO – Sept. 24th – 27th – This is a festival to celebrate the harvests of the fall so expect lots of good foods and good drinks. Live concerts, farmers’ markets, beer and wine tasting, and farm tours are just a few of the fun things you can expect while enjoying the bounty from local orchards, ranches and farms in the area.

Elk Fest, Estes Park CO – Oct. 3rd-4th – Elk season starts in the fall and many people head to Estes Park to see and hear these beautiful creatures. At the festival you can learn more about these beasts’ behavior, observe them in their natural habitat and participate in bugling contests.

Applefest, Cedaredge CO – Oct. 3rd-4th – If you drive through this small town you will be amazed at the beautiful apple trees that line the place bursting with red and green apples. At this festival there are more than 150 vendors who share their agricultural knowledge with visitors.

Fall in Colorado is such a beautiful time, make sure to get outside and enjoy the changing colors and the cooler weather.
