Showing Gratitude
The month of gratitude and the official start to the holiday season is here. We all become more conscious of giving thanks, showing appreciation, and honoring those we love and care about. We are grateful for your support, patronage, and engagement.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving and the time for friends and family, we wanted to share some of our findings for having a successful and gratitude-driven month. Would you believe us if we told you there have been studies done that prove when you give gratitude to people in your life, you will be happier? That’s the funny thing about giving thanks to others, you also are giving a thankful pat on the back to yourself and your happiness. People have always said that saying ‘thank you’ can go a long way; now, studies prove just how long it can go for yourself and the others involved in your gratitude giving. Geoffrey James was interviewed a few years back on the subject of gratitude and he stated:
“People who approach life with a sense of gratitude are constantly aware of what’s wonderful in their life. Because they enjoy the fruits of their successes, they seek out more success. And when things don’t go as planned, people who are grateful can put failure into perspective”.
Just another thing to put on the list of why showing gratitude is good thing to express in your life; it can also help you be more successful. So remember, there is no real reason not to show gratitude to the store clerk or your waiter or your mom or your best friend. Most everyone’s parents taught him or her at a young age to start showing gratitude by saying thank you, writing thank you cards, or by being polite and courteous to those they encountered. Little did you know your parents were setting you up for a life of success and happiness! If you have a few minutes today, we recommend watching this awesome video about the relationship between people, gratitude and happiness. Be ready to let a few tears flow; this video really pulls on a few heart strings with its raw perspective on us as humans and how we truly care for those in our lives.
Giving Thanks for No Stress
With Thanksgiving — the holiday for giving thanks and showing gratitude — just around the corner, we know it can also be a stressful time. We have compiled a list of a few ways to try and lessen the stress and take some of the work off of your shoulders when the big day comes and the family is gathered around the table for turkey and stuffing, and of course, mashed potatoes.
- Make Lists – It can be hard to remember everything you have to do for the big day, so making lists is a great way to stay organized and on task. Create menus, write down recipes, prepare a list of ingredients to get from the store and make a list of what you already have at home.
- Do As Much Prep-Work As Possible – You can’t make everything the night before, but there are plenty of Thanksgiving dishes that can be ready to go the morning of. Get a few sets of hands to help you prepare early dishes so they are ready to go when the sun comes up on Thanksgiving Day.
- Shop Early and Get Enough – Do not wait to the last minute to go to the store, we repeat, do NOT wait until the last minute to go to the store. Buy your food a week early so that you can get all the things you want and not stress the night before when you don’t have enough food for your family of 50. Leftovers never are a bad thing on Thanksgiving, so make sure to have enough food and then some for your whole crowd.
- Ask for Help – A captain doesn’t steer a ship alone, so you shouldn’t prepare a whole Thanksgiving feast alone either. Don’t be afraid to ask your family members or friends to pitch in when preparing your meal; more than not, they will be happy to lend a hand (or be a taste tester).
From all of us here at New Era Group, we want to wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving and say thank you for being loyal customers and friends. We appreciate your business and look forward to continue helping you find the home of your dreams.
